A veneer is a layer of porcelain that is bonded to one or more teeth. They improve appearance and strength. Porcelain veneers are long lasting, stain resistant and esthetically pleasing.

Veneering is a restoration that can fix the following:

  1. Cracked or chipped teeth
  2. Crooked or misshaped teeth
  3. Spaces between teeth (diastamas)
  4. Stained or discoloured teeth

Models of your teeth are taken and sent to a lab, where a “wax up” is made of your veneered smile. If you are happy with the expected
outcome you are ready to proceed.

At the first appointment, a thin layer of enamel is removed from the front surface of the teeth to make room for the veneer. An impression is taken using a tray made specifically for your mouth. This will give an exact replica of the prepared teeth for the lab, where the veneers are custom made.

You may wish to complete whitening before this process, or have them match your existing shade.

It is sometimes possible to fabricate temporary veneers from plastic to place over the prepared teeth until the porcelain veneers are ready. These plastic veneers are cemented or lightly bonded into place, and are temporary.

At the second appointment, the temporary veneers are removed. The porcelain veneers are tried in and if you are satisfied with the fit
and the appearance, they are cemented in place.

Porcelain veneers can improve the appearance of your teeth, giving you a beautiful, confident smile!
